Building Apps with HTML5: What You Need to Know
with Ely Lucas, Senior Software Developer

HTML5 is here, and the Web will never be the same.

The future of the web is HTML5 -- a very important (and much needed) update to the HTML standard.
There is a lot of hype around HTML5, and many questions surrounding it. In this session, you will find out exactly what HTML5 is, what it can do, and what the future of HTML5 and application development in general will look like. We will discuss how HTML5 coincides with tools and technologies we use today on the Microsoft platform.
You will leave knowing how to put HTML5 features to work in your applications today.

Start adopting HTML5 today. The Web won’t ever be the same, really!
Start now by building the next great Web applications using HTML5.

My Life as a Super Hero – Coding to Save Lives

with
Shane Reid, Director, Research and Development, Zoll

If our applications can help increase cardiac survival rates 1% - we will save 4,600 more people each year. Really, how many people did Aquaman ever save?

Developing life-critical applications that span organizations, environments, and platforms requires a careful orchestration of architecture, process, and fault-tolerant systems.

We will discuss the trials and tribulations of developing an integrated yet disparate platform of applications with technologies ranging from WCF, WPF, ASP.NET MVC, Metro and even iOS (there always has to be a villain, right?)

    Shane Reid

Shane Reid      Shane Reid completed graduate school at Colorado State University in math and computer science.
He then worked at a variety of software development positions for Hewlett-Packard. Finding a greater challenge, he then co-owned a small software company, Fairplay Technologies, specializing in automated test tools and display driver development. His company was acquired by 3dfx Interactive where Shane held a management position responsible for Glide and OpenGL drivers and SDKs.
Sensing an opportunity to move on and harboring a desire to return to Colorado, Shane left technology (and anything like a decent salary) to become a paramedic here on the Front Range. Gaining six years experience saving lives provided the perfect springboard to his current life where he found ZOLL in Broomfield. He now gets to deliver products that he would have liked to have had when he was a paramedic!
