Task Parallel Library

Writing Concurrent Applications
without the Headaches of Locks (Dataflow)
with Atiq Mir, Software Solutions Architect, Mirway

"Using C# examples, we’ll see how we can write concurrent Dataflow applications in .NET using Dataflow (Task Parallel Library) and take advantage of its multi-tasking capabilities." Atiq Mir

We’ll start with an overview of today’s multi-core CPU architectures and how that necessitates obscure locking primitives that often lead our multi-threaded applications into deadlocks.

We’ll learn an alternative concurrency architecture called Dataflow and the programming model called the Actor Model that allows us to write concurrent applications without the headaches of such synchronization primitives.

Ready? Come and get an introduction to and solid examples of using this .NET library for building parallel and concurrent applications.

FMI: Introduction to TPL Dataflow,  Dataflow (Task Parallel Library)

   Atiq Mir

Atiq Mir  Atiq Mir started in software development 25 years ago when he taught himself how to program in Visual Basic in his teen years.

Ever since, he has written software for multiple platforms, including Mainframes, UNIX, and Windows, and in over a dozen software languages, including C#, C/C++, and Java.

For the past 8 years, he’s been focusing on the full stack of Microsoft .NET technologies with C# as his language of choice.

He lives in Broomfield, CO with his wife and two beautiful kids. When he’s not busy with his family, he provides custom software development services through his company, Mirway, Inc.

Overview of ICS.

    Doug Klares

Doug Klares As the CEO/Founder of Infinity Consulting Solutions, Doug Klares has overseen ICS’ growth into one of the nation’s largest and most successful staffing and recruiting agencies.

He has grown ICS from its single flagship headquarters in New York to include offices across the country that work with top-tier clients and candidates resulting in the best experiences in the staffing industry.

His highly personalized approach is the most effective way to match qualified candidates with positions where they can excel, has led him to develop the most rigorous candidate recruitment model in the industry — and ICS to employ the happiest people in the staffing and recruiting field.

    ICS

  We Know the Right People
Our recruitment process is specifically built to allow us to get to know our candidates and build relationships with them. Others might call this passive candidate recruiting, we think of it as proactive candidate recruiting. It allows us to take our time to understand the wants and needs of the people in our network. This results in strong matches for both our clients and candidates.

Mission
Our Mission is to cultivate successful long term relationships by matching the right people with the right organizations.

Vision
Our Vision is to build the strongest relationships with the people in our community, always serving their needs.

Collaboration, Not Automation
It has become an industry trend in the staffing world to cut corners by completely automating the recruiting process. At ICS we reject the notion of relying purely on technology to find the right people. We depend on personal interactions and relationship building to identify candidates. Once we get to know our candidates and understand their aspirations, skill-sets, and backgrounds, we connect them with the right businesses that are looking for highly skilled people to join their teams. At ICS, real people take the time to get to know the right people, making the process as simple as possible for everyone involved.

.NET Core

.NET Core - Create Web Apps & Services for Windows, Linux, Mac
with Jerry Nixon, Developer Evangelist, Microsoft

".NET Core is a blazing fast, lightweight and modular platform for creating web applications and services that run on Windows, Linux and Mac."

Cross-platform - You can create .NET Core apps that run on Windows, Linux and macOS.

Unified - Leverage the unified .NET Standard library to target all platforms with the same code and use the same languages and tools to reuse your skills.

Fast - High performance server runtime for Windows Server and Linux make .NET 8x faster than Node.js and 3x faster than Go. That means applications provide better response times and require less compute power. More info

Lightweight - No impact deployment and a modular development model where you only take dependencies on the minimal set of packages you need.

Modern - Multiple language support with C#, VB, F# and modern constructs like generics, Language Integrated Query (LINQ), async support and more.

Open Source - Runtime, libraries, compiler, languages and tools are all open source on GitHub where contributions are accepted, tested and fully supported.
